Ronny Cox & Jack Williams Concert

Ronny Cox ~ Who cannot forget the classic and memorable movie "Deliverance"? Living up here in the mountains of North Georgia we are constantly asked "do we live anywhere near where this movie was filmed?" Although the Chattooga River and location is about an hour or so east of us, the bumper stickers and t-shirts reading "Paddle Faster I Hear Banjo Music" can be found in a lot of the local tourist stores and white water rafting establishments in the area. Recall the famous Dueling Banjo scene if you will and you'll get a taste of Ronny Cox's long and successful Career (ummm....he is the guitar player in the scene).
Not only is Ronny a very accomplished actor, having starred in numerous movies and television shows, he is also a very accomplished singer songwriter, musician, story teller and has produced numerous CD's. The Boston Globe had this to say about Ronny ~ In Hollywood, they say it takes smart actors to play stupid characters, and nice guys to play nasty villains. Cox is the poster-boy for the latter point. He played slithery corporate snakes in "RoboCop" and "Total Recall;" but as a singer-songwriter, he is a study in easygoing amiability and unforced charisma. He charms crowds with self-teasing humor, tart progressive insight, and a lulling Southwestern folk sound. His repertoire is a smart mix of witty ditties, bluesy swing tunes, heart-on-sleeve romances, and real-life anthems ("It's a cry in the night/ It's a whispered prayer/ That gets you from here to there"). Scott Alarik, The Boston Globe
Jack Williams can be classified as one of the quintessential singer/songwriter/artists in the folk and americana genre of music today. Originally from South Carolina (which makes him a good ole southern gentleman), Jack is no stranger to the the folk/americana genre and has produced seven CD's of all original music along with one full length DVD. Jacks passion for the music and the people that he is performing for is evident in his performances and career. Having avoided the compromises of the commercial music industry during his 50+-year professional career, he prefers touring “under the radar”, playing concerts, large and small, week in and week out, from the sheer love of music and performing.
As a guitarist, he accompanied Tom Paxton, Peter Yarrow, Mickey Newbury and Harry Nilsson. Invited onstage by Arlo Guthrie to sing a song, he then joined the group for the concert encores. He has produced all of his own recordings plus CDs by Mickey Newbury, Eric Schwartz, Carla Ulbrich, The Malvinas, and Ronny Cox. As a hired-gun guitarist in the Deep South of the Civil Rights-Easy Rider 60's, Jack worked shows with John Lee Hooker, Big Joe Turner, Jerry Butler, Z.Z. Hill, Hank Ballard and many others. During that era, his bands also backed up artists such as the Shirelles, the Del-Vikings, the Coasters, the Drifters, and the Platters.
I could tell you SOOOO much more about these two outstanding musicians (which you can read on their website links below) but I would much rather you come and share this VERY special evening of music with us and meet and mingle with the artist in this very unique and intimate cabin concert experience.
We would love to have you attend and although we know some of our friends in other states and countries will not be able to, never fear, we will be streaming the concert live on Ustream.tv.

Purchased items (CDs and books in particular) will be personally signed by the artist. (If we can convince them to kiss the album before we put it in the package, they'll do that too!) PayPal links will be processed through Blue Ridge Cabin Concert Series, and all proceeds (minus PayPal fees) go directly to the artist. Shipping fees will be added to the cost of the purchase and are as follows:

Sorry, we don't offer any faster shipping methods (UPS / FedEx) because the prices tend to be ridiculous. The shipping cost is meant to cover the actual shipping cost and isn't some hidden profit center. You will see the shipping cost when you view your cart or otherwise finalize your order.
If you want the artist to write something special on your item (CDs, books, etc.) please include that in the "Add Special Instructions To Merchant" box. Otherwise, they will try to personalize each CD if we can figure out your name.

A Note From Jim At Whole Wheat Radio
Just wanted to congratulate everyone at Blue Ridge House Concerts for all you've done to set up this site, all the work involved in getting not only an audio but a video stream out to the world and the sense of grassroots, independent, Mom-n-Pop non-corporate media you've embraced. These are truly rare and valuable gifts in this culture. Thank you for creating them and then giving them so freely, giving of yourselves, your time, your expertise, your lives and love.
Jack Williams was the first performer we hosted here in Talkeetna, Alaska. It's wonderful to know you'll be experiencing the same storytelling, honesty and talent that only a timeless balladeer like Jack can provide. Please send my very best to him and also to Ronny who I've not had the pleasure of meeting. I'm sure you'll all have a memorable show.
I'm sincerely sorry I'll probably not be able to attend live due to a planned vacation we're on right now but I look forward to watching a recording and seeing all the fun that ensues on this site. If I can sneak away to a computer in Anchorage when the show is going on, I'll definitely do so.
Thanks again Randy, Kip, Norma, Jack, Ronny and everyone else involved. Break a leg!
---Jim
